Since the start of the war, 27 Gazan detainees have died during questioning at the Israeli facilities of Sde Teiman and Anatot, according to Haaretz. Detainees who were released from Israeli custody have described wide-ranging incidents of harassment, including stripping, beating, blindfolding, and sexual abuse. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is investigating the circumstances of these deaths and maintains that Israeli soldiers have acted in compliance with international law. This briefing will address recent reporting on the treatment of Gazan detainees in Israeli custody, as well as the laws that govern the treatment of detainees in war. Speakers include Alberto Mora, Colonel (res.) Adv. Pnina Sharvit Baruch and the Head of Legal Department, Public Committee Against Torture in Israel. Moderated by Prof. Claire Finkelstein
